Why are Probiotics Essential for the Skin?

We know that probiotics are the healthy gut essential. The good live bacteria found in yoghurts, and supplements such as Inner Health Plus helps to fight inflammation in the gut, neutralising some toxins and helping to block others.

So what are probiotics exactly? Probiotics are the naturally occurring good bacteria that live in our gut and play a significant role in our total wellness. When we are healthy, our intestinal tract hosts over 100 trillion friendly bacteria, which aid digestion, boost the immune system, consume bad bacteria and limit the growth of yeast.

Probiotics aid in the maintenance of a normal healthy gastrointestinal system and digestive function. They help balance the ecosystem of the digestive system, ultimately with the goal of making the digestive system healthier and more efficient.

But did you know that the benefits of probiotics go beyond improved digestion?

In fact, bacteria…. (that is “good” bacteria) should be part of your everyday beauty and skincare regime.

Why? The anti-inflammatory effect of probiotics is hugely beneficial for your skin. Probiotics are key for anti-ageing and can also help with skin conditions such as acnerosacea and eczema.

The skin is our largest organ, and more often than not it’s the first indicator of our health, wellbeing and age.

The gastrointestinal tract and skin are both organs of detoxification. We need a healthy balance of good bacteria in the gut to break down food, absorb nutrients, and eliminate toxins. When our gut flora is unhealthy and out of balance with more “bad” than “good” bacteria, health issues arise. These include inflammation resulting in pimples and acne.

So in order to achieve a clear complexion, starting with the “gut” is a good idea.
